So many health concerns arose during menopause, and the sad part of it is that, most of these concerns affect the psychological and emotional state of the woman.
These health concerns can also raise some issues, causing problems in relationships. Thus, it is very important for all women out there to know and learn how to deal with these things, to stop this stage of their lives from being destructive.
The severity of the problems that rise from this condition varies from its different stages. But one thing is for sure, problems can stay for as long as 8 years, before the final menstruation of the lady occurs.
All of the irritable symptoms in this stage of a woman’s life starts from the fluctuations of her hormones, particularly when progesterone and estrogen fails to maintain its normal count in the body while the woman was in her fertile years.
Anxiety and depression
There is no solid scientific proof that links menopause to feeling of extreme sadness of a woman yet. However, many studies show that the feeling of anxiety and depression occurs more in menopausal age of a woman. This state of emotions is often blamed in aging. The feeling of uncertainty, agitation, nervousness and depression are triggered by hormonal changes, and other problems that can cause a woman to be extremely sensitive on things.
Headaches and migraines
Most people think that these two conditions are the same, but the truth is, they entirely different things. Headaches happen when the vessels that send blood to the brain are narrowing, making the flow of the blood to the brain constricted. The severity of headaches varies from its frequency and intensity.
Migraine on the other hand, is a form of severe headache that is usually confined in one side of the brain, which pain can be excruciating. Migraine is a recurring condition, and attacks can happen anytime anywhere. Though there is no single explanation that can link migraine to menopause, the psychological and emotional strain of a woman experiences during menopausal stage can obviously trigger the attack of migraine.
Serotonins, a neurotransmitter chemical which constricts the blood vessels in the injured areas, and also affect emotional states of a person, are reduced during menopausal years. The reduced level serotonins can lead to drowsiness and nausea, which can be very uncomfortable for a woman.
These problems can cause stress to the mind, causing woman to feel physically weak but unable to sleep. Other symptoms of menopause like hot flashes (extreme sweating) and headache can easily interrupt sleep.
Vaginal Dryness Leading To Painful Intercourse
Again, it is the estrogen that is responsible for the production of such lubrication in the vagina. And because there is a reduced level of estrogen during menopause, vagina starts to dry, making sex very painful for women. This obviously affects the sex drive of women.
The muscles that makes up the vagina walls will start to thin during menopause, this can make a woman unable to control her bladder, causing involuntary release of urine. The thinning of vagina walls is the effect of the lowering level of estrogen hormones, as it is estrogen that helps women withhold their pee. This also causes a woman to lose her interest in sexual activities.
